Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka is a native of Minsk which is the capital city of Belarus. Her father Sergey (d. in 2019) was an ice hockey player. Aryna Sabalenka was born Minsk, Belarus on May 5 1998. Her professional career has seen her be the winner of 12 WTA singles titles, which includes an Grand Slam in the Australian Open of 2023. Doubles is her forte, and she won Majors in both the US Open (2019) and Australian Open (2021), both of which were in partnership with Elisemertens. She also achieved her Sunshine Double in 2019, taking the WTA 1000 at Indian Wells, Miami and the Australian Open along with Elise and Mertens. This feat was only achieved by four couples of women's doubles to pull off. In January of 2023 she reached her highest ranking in singles. On 23rd August 2021, she climbed to the second spot in the World rankings. In doubles however she pushed her way to the top in February of the same year after the victory in Melbourne being the first tennis player from Belarus to make it in this particular area. Dmitry Tursunov was her coach from 2018, until the season ended in 2019, and also for a short time before the year 2020 began. Dieter Kindlmann was the coach for her from the month of August until September 2020. Antonio Dubrov has been her coach since 2020. Serena Williams is her role for a role model, closely then Maria Sharapova.
